Anxiety Therapy (in Austin and Online Across TX & CA)
How does anxiety feel?
Constant worry. A feeling different from stress. A nagging uneasiness that won't fade. Relentless butterflies. Sleepless nights consumed by thoughts. Endlessly looping rumination. Nightmares haunting your sleep. Shortness of breath in moments of panic. Avoidance tactics kicking in automatically. Procrastination taking over your actions. Excuses piling up to justify the unease. Guilt creeping in for not handling things better. Sadness overshadowing moments of joy. Loneliness lingering like an unwanted visitor. Fear gripping your heart. More worry added to the pile each day. Rinse and repeat again and again and again. The struggle is real.
What is anxiety?
Anxiety is your body’s way of protecting yourself. It serves a purpose and when understood and redirected, it can be extremely useful. My goal is to teach you how to better manage your anxiety by becoming friends with it and allowing it to be an ally and aide rather than an enemy or something to fear.
What does anxiety look like?
While anxiety shows up differently for everyone, it can look like:
Perfectionism;
Procrastination;
Anger;
Self-criticism;
OCD tendencies;
Fidgeting;
Constant fear and worry;
Nervousness;
Impatience;
An inability to make decisions;
Thinking and rethinking over every possibility;
Always having an escape plan;
Not ever being fully present because your mind is always focusing on too many other things;
Constantly being short with those around you and then feeling guilty about it;
Not being able to focus on one task at a time because there are just too many things to do;
And/or saying no to things repeatedly even though you want to say yes and then feeling sad and isolated.
The list is not exhaustive and if any of these experiences resonate with you and you’re ready to hop off the struggle bus, click here so that I can help.
What does anxiety therapy look like?
Through exploration of fears, breath and body work, mindfulness, validation and reframing your narratives (the stories you tell yourself), you will learn how to trust and call upon your anxiety in times of need and send it away when it no longer serves its purpose. You will not learn how to simply manage your anxiety, but instead you will learn to control it. I want to empower you to use your anxiety as a strength and a super power rather than continue to battle with it, feel crippled by it or see it as a weakness or a flaw.
How can anxiety therapy help me feel better?
You will be able to notice when you start to feel anxious, and you will be able to pinpoint exactly what you feel anxious about;
You will be able to choose from the skills you have learned in therapy to decide what to do with your anxiety;
You will no longer be scared of when your anxiety will show up because you will have all the tools you need to deal with it when it does;
You will be able to focus on the present and reconnect with yourself and others;
You will enjoy your experiences as they happen and maybe even make space for new experiences instead of worrying about the what ifs;
Instead of waking up to fear or constant worry, you will be able to breathe deeply and take things once step at a time;
And you will feel calm, confident and empowered to live your best life.
How long will it take to feel better?
While there is no definite answer, my clients have told me that they have started to feel better and less anxious after our first session together. Fully being in control of your anxiety will take some time, but you can expect to feel better within the first 1-3 sessions.
